In September 2020 RelNet launched its online training series with the primary goal of helping our reseller partners and end users to get more into the details of the solutions provided by our vendors. In addition we also wanted to facilitate the interaction with our partner resellers’ and end users’ professional community adapting to the fundamentally changed environment due to the pandemic situation.
Through this modern eLearning initiative RelNet offers courses both for sales- and also for engineering-oriented partners. All eLearning courses are free of charge and can be enrolled by any users who have registered to our website. Each course consists of a video lesson and a quiz. The videos are either in Hungarian or English, while the quizzes are always in Hungarian. For the successful completion of a course, the video has to be watched in its entirety, and then at least 70% of the quiz questions has to be answered correctly. Points are awarded for each course – in line with its importance and difficulty –, which can be redeemed for gifts. Our gift catalogue is available here. We also give points for the recently completed vendor courses and exams once the user uploads the official certificates to the eLearning system. Plus, we appreciate by extra points those who newly subscribe to our newsletter. The best performers are rewarded on a quarterly basis. This creates an exciting competition for the grand prizes, and highly motivates the participants to learn new topics and get familiar with solutions or even vendors they did not know about before.

Our first promotion lasted until the end of the year 2020, and the top 3 users with the highest score were given valuable prizes – in addition to the gifts they could get by turning in their points. Of the courses published in 2020, six covered general, vendor-independent networking and IT security topics within the RelNetik series (created and presented by the professors of the Technical University of Budapest), 44 offered details about our vendors' solutions and one course presented the history and activities of RelNet. Currently, our users can gain insights into the solutions of all 16 vendors of RelNet.

69% of the video lectures are in English and 31% are in Hungarian.

By Dec. 31, 2020, our partners have enrolled in a total of 384 courses and completed 683 quizzes. Our eLearning users submitted 75 vendor exams, including
-16 exams from Extreme Networks,
-12 from Juniper Networks,
-29 from Sophos,
-and 18 from other vendors. The vendors’ exams totaled 549 extra points in the last quarter of 2020, and we were able to award additional 125 points in total for newsletter subscriptions.

The results of the "Knowledge is Rewarded" competition by the end of 2020 József Farkas, network engineer from SCI-Network, took first place. He passed 53 of our exams, and, together with the points for his vendor exams and the points for signing up for the newsletter, he achieved a total of 721 points. The second place went to Béla Forgó, also a network engineer for SCI-Network, also with successful completion of 53 RelNet eLearning courses. The vendor exams he passed have been included too, and – together with the newsletter subscription – he earned a total of 655 points. The third place went to Péter Örsi, ICT systems engineer of Enterprise Communications Hungary, who has also successfully mastered 53 courses and got a total of 538 points, with the vendor qualifications and the newsletter subscription counted in. Our users finishing in 4th, 5th and 6th place completed 53, 52, and 51 courses, respectively. It is evident, that the result was decided by the extra points (especially the ones awarded for the vendors’ exams). Our users were aware of this since the last vendor exam was submitted at 22:15 on Dec. 31.

"It is a very useful initiative, especially because of its online format. I have familiarized myself with many other vendors and even more solutions. There was plenty of motivation." "My experience was absolutely positive, I was able to encounter very ambitious and wide-ranging materials, involving lots of technologies and vendors, which I could all use to broaden my knowledge.
